January 31st, 2008Audi R8 : Masterpiece

The Audi R8 is the latest and greatest car from the German producer Audi. The R8 is the first real Audi’s supercar and more better than that. It’s a supercar that you can drive every day and everywhere, and not really have to worry too much about it. I say that lightly, because Audi’s aren’t known for their bulletproof reliability. But Audi did design the R8 with the intention of it’s lucky owners using it the way they would a Porsche 911, an everyday supercar.

Audi R8

I’m a huge supercar fan myself, even it cost too much to repair if the car break down. First of all, this is a wonderful car, it looks fast, beautiful and exotic too. And of course there is that fantastic V8 under the rear hatch; it’s hard to argue with 420 HP on any car, even an Audi. For what you get, the MSRP is about right, the R8 starts at $109,000. Time to get in line.

Audi A8 Specs

  • Mid-engine design
  • 6 speed manual transmission
  • Quattro All wheel drive
  • Seating for 2
  • Dry-sump lubrication system
  • MSRP : $109,000

Audi R8 Reviews

TTAC reviews the Audi R8 and has this to say « On the open road, the R8 is a serene machine. Despite low gearing, road and engine noise levels are subdued enough for the daily drudge. My tester was afflicted with a few squeaks and rattles; an indication of early build problems or journalists ability to abuse Audi’s horsepitality. Anyway, over any road surface, the R8’s ride quality is superb, even without the optional ‘Audi magnetic ride’ adaptive damper system. »

Well, as you can see the Audi R8 is an amazing sport car that you can drive everyday. That’s what i think myself ! How about you ? Agree ?

Actress Nicole Kidman was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1967. Her father, an australian, was a student in Hawaii at the time. When she was 4, the family returned to Australia, and Kidman grew up in a suburb of Sydney.

Kidman became interested in acting early on. Her first experience came when she was 6 years old and she played a sheep in her school’s Christmas pageant. In 1989, Kidman appeared in the creepy thriller Dead Calm. This performance earned her the lead role in her first American movie, Days of Thunder. Her costar was Tom Cruise. Following a whirlwind romance, Kidman and Cruise were married in Colorado on Christmas Eve, 1990.

During the marriage, Kidman’s carrer continued to grow. She and Cruise adopted two children, and they worked hard to balance their careers and family life.

Unfortunately, the marriage didn’t last. Kidman and Cruise divorced in 2001. After the divorce, Kidman threw herself into her work. She starred in a number of high-profile movies, including the musical Moulin Rouge. Then, in 2003, she won both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her role as Virginia Woolf in the film The Hours.

And what does the think of her fame? ” It’s a fleeting moment, ” she has said. “How long will it last? Who knows? But it’s here and it’s now. “

On June 25th, 2006, Nicole Kidman marries Keith Urban, in Nicole’s native Australia, the guest list included Naomi Watts and Russel Crowe, and the reception was held at St. Patrick’s estate, in Sydney.

Nicole looked ethereal and lovely as a bride, and, unlike some of our past Iconic Brides, the marriage is still going strong !

January 26th, 2008The Truth About Lying

Is it ever better to tell a lie rather than the truth ? If so, when ?

Most of us are taught to believe that lying is wrong. But it seems that everybody tells lies, not big lies, but what we can call ” white lies. ” If we believe that lying is wrong, why do we do it ? Most of the time, people have very good reasons for lying. For example, they might want to protect a friendship or someone’s feelings. So, when do we lie and who do we lie to ? A recent study found that the average person lies about seven times a day. Here are some ways and reasons why.

The Truth of LyingThe Truth of LyingThe Truth of Lying

1/ Lying to hide something : People often lie because they want to hide something from someone. For example, a son doesn’t tell his parents that he’s dating a girl because he doesn’t think they will like her. Instead, he says he’s going out with the guys.

2/ Lying to make an excuse : Sometimes people lie because they don’t want to do something. For example, someone invites you to a paty. You think it will be boring, so you say you’re busy.

3/ Lying to make someone feel good : Often we stretch the truth to make someone feel good. For example, your friend cooks dinner for you, but it tastes terrible. Do you say so ? No. You probably say, ‘ Mmm, this is delicious ! ‘

4/ Lying to avoid sharing bad news : Sometimes we don’t want to tell someone bad news. For example, you have just had a very bad day at work, but you don’t feel like talking about it. So if someone asks you about your day, you just say that everything was fine.

And as i always say, we just say fine to avoid why !

I hope you don’t lie more than 7 times a day ^_^, if so you should visit a doctor !

January 26th, 2008J.K. The Magic of Potter

There was a time when no one knew the name Harry Potter. Now the adventures of this extraordinary student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are read in over 45 languages, including Russian, Thai, and even ancient Greek. No one can explain the Harry Potter phenomenon not even J.K. Rowling, his creator.

Harry Potter Team

J.K. Rowling was born in England in 1965. From a young age, she knew she wanted to be a writer. When she was 6, she wrote her first story about a rabbit tha gets sick. At school she used to make up stories to tell her friends.

After graduating from college, she worked as a secretary. But she didn’t give up her dream. She spent her lunch hour writing stories, mainly for adults. Then in 1990, on a train trip to London, she got the idea for the boy wizard. She says he just appeared in her head. She soon created a whole cast of unique characters to help Harry battle the forces of darkness.

She kept working on the story while she was teaching English in Portugal, where she married, had her first child, and divorced a year later. When she returned to England, she brought back a quitcase of Harry Potter stories.

J.K. Rowling

After returning home, she was broke and living in a small, cramped apartment. She continued writing, and in 1995, finished the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It was published in 1997 and became an unexpected bestseller.

Rowling’s life has changed dramatically. She became internationally famous and now earns around $40 million a year. She remarried, had a second child, and currently lives in Scotland.
