Incredibly helpful info, even more those of us who've been doing SEO for a while. It's always good to get a refresher course when you get so caught up in work you remember you completely forgot to hit up the squidoo!

I've been trying to build links to my site for a little while now and as an amateur it's almost impossible to see whats working and what doesn't. Most articles regarding link builidng list exactly whats here but because the rules are always changing you don't know what will work, what wont work or even what will work just now but will end up hurting your site later.

For example - Zak mentions creating articles for article directories but what you want to once you've created your article is to submit it to multiple article directories as well as list on your own site.

If you do a quick search in google you will find many forum posts questioning if this results in "duplicate content" even though they are on different sites which may in fact end up excluding your site from the search engines as a result but so far I've not been able to figure out if this is accurate or just suspected.

The suggested resolution to this is to create unique content for each site... I don't know about you but I find it takes up a good amount of my time to create content for my site never mind any other site I want to link back to me.

This is a great article, in describing link building tactics that are useful for those who just indulge to link building services. I would prefer writing more articles but be aware of it because it requires time and effort for it..

Thanks nice blog!.

Would you specify which firefox fox plugin are you talking about? Also another good way to find dofollow blogs is to use these two free search engines, www.commenthunt.com and www.inlineseo.com/dofollowdiver
they both search for only dofollow blogs. When searching for your keywords I would start out with a narrow search, eg "specific keywords" and then broaden your search as you run out of good blogs by searching for your more general industry terms.

Thank you for a great article. You described the most common link building tactics that will absolutely be useful for those e-marketers who is just starting a link building campaign. I've been doing some SEO for our company's website I must say I like the directory submission, article submission and blog commenting most. With the use of automatic submission tools, directory submission, article submission and blog commenting are made quick and easy. Yes, writing articles requires time and efforts, but it's possible to hire a writer to create the articles if one is not good at writing.
