The first XC90 model from Volvo was introduced in 2002 and was considered to be its first SUV, the greatest amount of success in terms of sales. Today, just a decade later, Volvo has introduced its 2013 Volvo XC90. Some of the things that make the 2013 Volvo XC90 stand out from the rest are its powerful power train, high safety rating and spacious seating area. Additionally, on dash features are lined with its signature Volvo trim line. The 2013 model looks very similar to the 2012 model, and that is mainly because most of the changes were done on the inside and in the actual performance of the SUV.
For a SUV of its size, the 2013 Volvo XC90 truly does deliver a load of performance. Even with this family Volvo SUV, you will find it quite exhilarating. Regardless of the weather condition, you would be able to get this Volvo out for a run without having to deal with any form of trouble. The 2013 Volvo XC90 delivers a 3.2L 6-cylinder engine, with a 6-speed transmission. Depending on your preference, you can choose to purchase your Volvo with all-wheel drive or front wheel drive. A family SUV zooming on the freeway with a total 240HP engine is something most people won’t want to miss. Not only do you get optimum performance, but you will surely be able to drive one of Volvo’s best power train equipped vehicles.
Overall, Volvo has kept the exterior styling the same, expect for a few upgrades in terms of lighting and bumper grills. The signature lights in the front of the XC90 remain the same, with a slight difference in the rear brake lights. Apart from the lighting changes, the overall design and concept of the 2013 Volvo XC90 has been kept the same. When we took a look at the inside of the Volvo XC90, we saw a little more leg room for the driver, including the addition of some great new features on the dash, which we will talk about in the sections below.
Features / Fuel Economy
When considering the various features equipped in leading SUV models, we can see that Volvo has gone a little ahead with engineering. From looking at the dashboard and its loaded features, we can tell that Volvo has included many of the common tech features found in some of the very luxurious cars in the market. The lights are aligned with LED bulbs, giving it a bolder look. Inside, you have Bluetooth, keyless entry, satellite radio, dual zone climate control and cruise control. The design package offered with the 2013 Volvo XC90 is known as the R-design package, which is a little modified version of the existing version.
In terms of overall fuel efficiency on the 2013 Volvo XC90, you will be getting 16MPG city and 23MPG highway. The Volvo XC90 is not really gas guzzler, but it surely won’t achieve hybrid model fuel efficiency. There are other SUV and crossover models that do much better in terms of mileage per gallon, but then again, you would need to consider the price of the vehicle and its various features, safety ratings and performance. Overall, we would rate the 2013 Volvo as 8.5 out of 10, as it gives you what most luxury SUVs offer at a much reduced price.
