ecommerce Website

E-Commerce website has thousands of pages with different products on each page. If you see how Google or any other search engine crawls a webpage, you will find out that the first thing a search engine notices in a web page is its Title, than Description, keywords and then the page content. Most of the website owners copy the product description from other websites and hence they come under the umbrella of Duplicate Content Websites in the eyes of Google. Google absolutely hates Duplicate content, and you should avoid it by all means.

Another most important thing when it comes to a successful E-commerce website is website design, and its loading time. You must talk to your web designers and developers to check your site’s loading time and how you can minimize that.

Keyword analysis is another very important thing and should never be neglected. Without doing proper keyword research you will never see fruitful results in any given SEO campaign. Google’s own adwords tools is the best tool to do keyword research and it should be used for each product that resides on your store.

Site’s navigation and structure plays a vital role in the success of ecommerce website. Make it easy for customers to navigate and browse through your website and don’t make them mad by giving them annoying popup ads or signup requirements. Make sure that your user gets what they actually want from your website, without visiting a lot pages. You should check out the exit pages in Google analytics to checkout from where the customers are leaving the website, than try to improve that page and make it better.

Then comes all important, Off Page SEO, in which you increase the number of backinks pointing to your website. You must use a diversifies approach to  link building because that’s the way Google likes it now, don’t make bulk of low quality links, but instead build few but very high quality backlinks to your website, and you will eventually see positive results.

SEO for an e-commerce website is a long and continuous process and there must be a continuous monitoring and measurement of all aspects of the E-Commerce website to see long term results.
