Located in the Rocky Mountains of the United States, Colorado is nicknamed the “Centennial State” and entered the Union in 1876. Colorado is renowned for its gorgeous and varied terrain that includes plains, mountains and rivers. Its capital is Denver. Originally inhibited by Native Americans, Colorado is full of artifacts from the Pueblo, Ute Nation, Cheyenne Nation and the Arapaho Nation. Because of this, there are over fifteen nationally protected areas and parks in the state. With multiple state universities, many professional sports teams and several museums, Colorado is a popular tourist attraction.
With a semiarid continental climate, Colorado enjoys low humidity and relatively low precipitation throughout most of the years. It is interesting to note that Colorado has the lowest number of overweight or obese people in the entire United States. This fact is sometimes attributed to the many different physical activities available throughout the state. Colorado is a fun and popular place to visit.
