Hawaii Travel Information

One of the fifty states of the United States, Hawaii is not part of the continental USA as it is an island state located in the central Pacific Ocean. It became the 50th state in the union in 1959. Hawaii is actually a chain of islands that were created by ancient volcanic action.

The eight main islands are:  Hawaii, Maui, Kaho’olawe, Lana’I, Moloka’I, O’ahu, Kaua’I and Ni’ihau. The ‘Big Island’ or Hawaii is the largest and most populous of the chain. Hawaii is probably most well known for being the home to Pearl Harbor.

On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, located in Hawaii which was then a territory of the United States. This single act of aggression catapulted the US into World War II.

Hawaii is considered on of the prime tourist’s destinations in the United States because of its beautiful climate, gorgeous beaches and famous waves. Tourism is Hawaiis greatest industry.
