New Hampshire is located in New England and is named after the English County Hampshire. New Hampshire was the first colony to break away from Great Britain and declare their independence.
One of the original thirteen colonies that founded the United States of America, New Hampshire was the ninth state to sign and ratify the constitution of the United States and it was the signature that made it valid.
New Hampshire was also the first state to have its own constitution and is currently the only state that has no state or income tax. Manchester is New Hampshire largest city, but Concord is its capital.
New Hampshire is home to the first primary for each presidential race. Its varied topography lends itself to a variety of sports including skiing, hiking and motor sports. Each year thousands of tourist flock to New Hampshire to participate in color tours and observe the beautiful colors of the fall trees.
