New York Travel Information

New York is located in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. It has the third largest population of all of the states and shares a border with Quebec and Ontario. Originally inhabited by the Lenape, Iroquois and Algonquin Indians, the Dutch and the French settled the area before the British took control.

New York became the eleventh state to ratify the Constitution of the United States. Perhaps most well known for New York City, the host of the annual New Years Eve Ball, the Statue of Liberty, and Elias Island, New York has long been an entry point for millions of immigrants to the United States.

It is interesting to note that New York is such a wealthy state, if it were a country in and off itself, it would be the sixteenth most wealthy country in the world. New York is perhaps the most well known state and city in the world, especially after the devastating terrorist attacks of 9/11.
