Unlike its competitors, Sony is not in a hurry to get ahead of the rest with their ultrabooks and gradually updates its own range of devices. For example, it officially announced the upgraded version of a very attractive laptop model VAIO S13.
Recall that the first data on the updates appeared in the last month, but only now the manufacturer has provided detailed information about them. So the company merged lines SA and SB in a single series, although it still remained in two models: VAIO S13 consumer and business-focused VAIO S13p. In addition there is information about the 15-inch model in the line-up other than IPS-matrix with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
The devices cannot be called the most thin and light among the analogues, but they differ in quality of materials, which are used in the construction of aluminium, magnesium alloy and carbon fibre. Weight of 13-inch model is about 1.7 kg, and they are based on processors Intel Core i5 and Corei7 generation by Ivy Bridge. VAIO S13 can rely only on the integrated GPU, while the professional model comes with an adapter by NVIDIA with discrete graphics memory up to 2 GB. Naturally, in the latter case, the laptop is able to use an integrated solution for energy savings.
By the way, Sony promises a good level autonomy – up to 7 hours of battery life in active mode. If you use the optional extended battery capacity, secured to the bottom of the laptop, then this figure will double, but that’s not all. As a useful complement, Japanese manufacturer offers a docking station with built-in 500-gigabyte hard drive and battery, and increasing the autonomy of your laptop.
As for other features of the model of enterprise-class, it also contains a biometric scanner, TPM module and an accelerometer to protect the HDD in the laptop, if it is accidentally dropped or hit (automatically parks the heads).
For the sale, new items will arrive later this month. Consumer VAIO S13 will cost from $900 and will be offered in black, silver, white and pink colours.
