In addition to the candy bar machine with the function of a Television, Sony introduced two new notebooks in the series VAIO S. These solutions are designed for those users who need lightweight and compact, but at the same time, productive solutions.
It is noted that new products are used in the construction materials such as magnesium, aluminium and carbon fibre, which are designed to reduce the mass of laptops. The devices are equipped with a 13.3 or 15.5-inch display, Intel Core processor of the third generation (the family of Ivy Bridge) in the 4-core models of Core i7 and NVIDIA discrete graphics solutions with 2 GB of memory, having the support of technology Optimus. In it, the 15.5-inch model is applied to the matrix of IPS Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and the display features a 13.3-inch model, which has not yet specified. The disk subsystem can be represented as hard drives and SSDs. At the same time, it declared the possibility of using configuration storage – QUAD RAID 0.
Also, optical drive DVD or Blu-ray with a slit-like loading, backlit keyboard, HD webcam and ports USB 3.0 are available. To ensure the safety of devices, technologies like TPM, Hard Disk Drive Shock Protection and the integrated fingerprint reader are implemented. These new items can be used in conjunction with a docking station that contains a built-in hard disk capacity of 500GB with automatic data backup and optional high-capacity battery, which allows working in standalone mode and 12 hours for a 15.5-inch model and up to 14 hours for 13.3-inch device.
It’s expected that the new Sony VAIO S notebook will be available to customers in June at a price of $900 for a 13.3-inch model and $1000 for a 15.5-inch solution.
