Writers may populate it with any number of different modules, or blocks of information. These modules may also be populated with affiliate links, videos, polls, pictures, or any number of different online widgets and information sources.
Squidoo calls their pages lenses, and Hubpages calls their pages hubs. Both are the same thing, and can earn money for the online web writer.
With Squidoo and Hubpages being so similar, one can not help but to wonder which website is better? Having spent some time on both sites I will look to answer that question.
As with most online writing sites, earning potential is one of the most important comparisons. Both Squidoo and Hubpages offer the opportunity to post affiliate links. Squidoo and Hubpages both offer the opportunity use Ebay and Amazon to earn referrals and extra money. This can become significant sources of income for those that have hundreds of pages.
The ever present Adsense is also an option for both. Hubpages offer to the Hubbers 60% of the impressions, in the other site Squidoo offer to the publishers 50%, 5% to charities and they keep 45%, Both companies split Adsense earnings with their writers at a fifty percent share. This area of earnings plays second fiddle to the affiliate earnings that one can accumulate on these sites.
Though both Squidoo and Hubpages offer almost similar options, Squidoo seems to get a bit more Google juice naturally. Lenses seem to consistently rank higher with Squidoo than with Hubpages when comparing similar content. After the new system, It’s up to you to choose who leads this category
Another huge drawing card are how many bells and whistles each of the websites offer to the user to build their pages with. Both Squidoo and Hubpages have very similar options in this area as well, but again Squidoo has just a few more. The options and widgets that are available on Squidoo are second to no other website I have ever seen. From post it notes to rateable link lists, Squidoo wins this one clearly.
Though Squidoo has more bells and whistles, Hubpages has the cleanest and smoothest usage interface. The modules are clear and easy to use, and putting together a great looking page that is ready to earn you money takes half the time that a Squidoo lens does. Hubpages has an excellent page appearance when finished, and a professional hub can be built by the greenest of web users. The edge in ease of use goes to Hubpages.
The winner of this showdown is clearly Squidoo, but it seems to depend on your skills level. If you are a seasoned web user, then Squidoo should be your first choice. If you are somewhat new, or just want to build quick and easy pages, Hubpages will be more your cup of tea. Either way, both websites are useful tools to earn money in the world of online marketing.

Zak, HubPages is getting better all the time. You don't have the revenue share quite right. HubPages shares 60% of revenues. That's 20% more.

Yes, you're right. I just checked the FAQ again, It seems that Hubpages offer 60% to Hubbers and they keep 40%, in the other side Squidoo offer 50% to the publishers, 5% to charities and they keep 45%.
Anyway, the fact that I compared Hubpages services to Squidoo services means that there both good and there is a fierce competition between them that makes the online marketing services much better.
And there are advantages and disadvantages for each service as a mentioned in the article.
